English Class

     Tomorrow we have the last English class. I really appreciate Mr. Lauer. How to proceed with this class is different from other classes. This class doesn't need a textbook. We can learn English through communication. In other words, we can experience authentic English.      Thanks to this class, I was able to feel the joy of speaking in English. I want to continue to learn English actively.      

      Today, I listened to the podcast about veganism. I heard the word, vegan, but I didn't know well about vegans, so I was interested in this podcast.      A vegan means people who don't eat products made from animals, such as meat and eggs. To be honest, it's very hard for me not to eat meat! I love meat dishes...but, according to this podcast, to be a vegan has some merits.       First, they focus on low calorie diets such as vegetables and soybeans. These foods contain many nutrients that are effective for beauty. This is why more and more women are becoming vegans these days.     Second, to become a vegan has health benefits. Vegan loves a low carb diet. This eating habit can help prevent lifestyle related diseases and reduce fatigue.      My current eating habits are disordered, so I'm interested in to be a vegan.

  Hi, how are you doing? The winter vacation is finally over... Yesterday, I wrote that I spent a lot of time with my friends during this vacation. Actually, I went on a family trip too! We went to Wakayama. We had a relaxing time there. When I entered Hiroshima University, I started living alone, so the time I spend with my family is decreased. I think I'd like to cherish the time with my family when I go back to my hometown.

  Hi, how is your winter vacation? I go back to my hometown now. The main purpose of this homecoming is to meet my friends and talk about our memories. I love the time with my local friends, so where we go and what we do don't matter. It's fun just to be together. Winter vacation is almost finished. I feel a little lonely, but I'll turn over a new leaf. アクティブ

      I went snowboarding yesterday with my friends. Actually this is my first time to snowboard. I had not been to ski area since I went skiing only one time when I was in junior high school.  These days I have a lot of homework and I can't afford to relax, so yesterday was great day for me.       I was scary to slid down the snow on a mountain at first, so I practiced snowboard at easy coarse. I felt down many times and my body hurts now. I feel like I've got a little better at snowboarding compared to when I first started. I want to snowboard again!

     The one movie that I really liked was "The Fast and Furious". It is called "Wild Speed" in Japan. It was made in 2001 and this movie's director was Rob Cohen.       This movie was set in Los Angeles. One day, a robbery group led by famous street racer Dominic Toretto attacks a long-distance truck. The Los Angeles Police Department embarked on an investigation and decided to conduct a sting operation in cooperation with the FBI. Brian O'Conner would be in charge. Brian, who was also a great driver. These two people in the opposite positions met in a race and started to glow the friendship between the two. Then they would overcome various missions!       This movie is vary exciting. I'm sure that you feel like driving a manual car after watching this movie!

     Hi, how are you? It's getting colder and colder these days. Today I'll share the thing I'm doing my best. Now I'm on a volunteer group. The group mainly  plans events for children such as  job trials and pinecone fights. Maybe you think what the pinecone fights are. Have you ever had snowball fights? The rule of the pinecone fights is the same as that of snowball fights. The difference of the two fights is the thing you throw. Yes...you use pinecones in the pinecones fights!!! We can play this game without snow and autumn is the best season for this game. Please try it with your friends! 

     There is still gender discrimination all over the world, The world of scientists is no exception. According to this article, If women discover a something, men may take all credit for hers. I think this is a kind of gender discrimination. Maybe there are quite a few female scientists who was taken credit for. The idea that men are better than women is old.       Now I'm interested in one woman activity. She is Yukiko Yamashita. She won the MacArthur Fellowship Award which is called "Genius Award" in 2011 in the USA and now publishes research results on developmental biology in various well-known scientific journals including Nature magazine. Although she is a professor, she still conduct latest research in the laboratory.

     Hi, how have you been recently? Now, we are in the middle of exam week. Last Thursday, I had a physics test. Physics is difficult for me, so I studied it many hours with my friends in the library. Just like I thought the test was difficult and it required many calculation! I was upset because of the amount of the calculation... but maybe it's ok for me.      This Tuesday I have two math exams. When the math exams finish, I will be freed from the exam. I'll do my best!

Hi, I will introduce my winter vacation. There is New Year’s Day during the winter vacation. Watching the sunrise with my friends on New Year’s Day is my annual event. The friends who I watch the sunrise with are my soccer clubmates when I was in junior high school. Each entered a different high school, so the opportunity for us to meet might be few when we were in high school, but on New Year’s Day we surely have got together. I’m looking forward to the day this year too.

     Yesterday, I went to the university festival with my friends. I was looking forward to it because my friends told me that Yonsentoshin, Japanese popular comedian would come to it. I like Japanese comedy, in particular Manzai which is a kind of comedy performed by a duo. Generally speaking, Manzai is performed by two people, however Yonsentoshin's Manzai is performed by three people. I like their unique worldview.       Actually I couldn't see them live yesterday... This year the number of seats is limited because of the coronavirus, so the people who can see them live were selected by a raffle a few days ago and I was not chosen... Then we enjoyed only listening to their voice.       Hiroshima University Festival also have food stands, so we ate various foods there. My favorite food there is Agemochi. The university festival is held today too. If you do there, please eat it.

      Holy cow! My favorite soccer team lost the game again, two loses in a row...I can't believe this fact. I always get up early to watch their games and to get encouragement from their enthusiasm, but I can't feel it from them these days.       Although they play hard, they can't win the game. People say that the team has special members, but are not organized and discipline at all. The team is Juventus, Italian soccer team. I think Juventus is the team which has a great teamwork originally, so I'm regretful people say that it doesn't have teamwork.      I'm sure that they will return as a stronger team. Whether they win or lose the game, I will continue to support them.

     We can see a lot of birds are flying in the sky. Several people are wearing white costumes and masks. They are also wearing blue gloves. Maybe, they are cleaning in a mountain. Two people have several white bags. If I look this picture closer, I can see three people are wearing goggles.

     I like both watching and playing soccer. I have playing soccer since I was in elementary school. I have my favorite soccer team. It's "Juventus FC", an Italian team. When I just started playing soccer, I knew them through a TV game at my friend's house.  They are symbolized by black and white uniforms. They belong to Serie A, Italian A league and won the league nine times in a row. They are not only strong but also passionate, so when I watch their match, I'm always encouraged by them. The Champions League which a tournament where strong teams from all over Europe gather has already started this year too. This is the year I would like to Juventus FC to win the tournament.

     Currently, I have two part time jobs, one is a cram school teacher and another is a convenience store clerk. When I was in high school, I wanted to be a cram school teacher in the future because the teacher who taught me math was very passionate. I think that I was influenced by the teacher and wanted to be such a enthusiastic teacher. Now I have a dream that is different from my old one, but I still like teaching people something. I enjoy working at the cram school.      As previously stated, I worked at a convenience store too. I think that at a cram school, although there are many opportunities which associate with people younger than me, the variety of people who I get involved is limited. That's why I started working at a convenience store. I get to interact with many different people there and I can get experience in the real world.      Both jobs are important for me. I will do my best.

      I like coffee. I came to like it during entrance examination season. it is often said that coffee includes a lot of caffeine and activates our brains, so I believe the effect and drink coffee almost every day. In summer, I recommend that you drink ice coffee. It has a refreshing taste and you will surely be able to get cool.      By the way, it's very cold these days. Ice coffee is unsuitable in such a cold season, so I drink hot coffee nowadays. I will try not to drink it too much...if you like to drink coffee, please comments! 

      These days, I think it’s very cold and the air is dry. I started to worry about dust. When the air is dry, dust got easier to float in the air. Because of dust, my nose feel itchy, so I would like to solve this problem earlier.      Then I bought an air cleaner at large household appliances retailer yesterday. It' very expensive for me, so I asked the clerk to cut price. The clerk is so kind that I was able to get it 2,000 yen cheaper.      Now my air cleaner is working and I feel comfortable at home.

      Today I listened to Hiroshima University's English Podcast "Adventure in Britain". They talked about Taro's trip in London at first, next about mystery tour around England. Taro watched the movie, Love Actually, on the plane and it made him strange feeling because they were talking in Heathrow Airport which was one of the stages of Love Actually.       Then Lucy told Taro that she looked up a mystery trip around England, but she didn't have any time to explain the trip. Moreover, she said "I’m getting kidnapped! Don’t worry! The first clue is “the Elizabeth Tower”! See you later! ". Taro didn’t understand what she said. Actually, the Elizabeth Tower is the place related to kidnaps. In short, next mystery trip has already started!     When I listened to this story for the first time, I didn't understand it because this story needs some knowledge in Britain to understand.  Hi! I'm Ren Hasegawa and 19 years old, male. I was born on May 25th, 2002. I had lived in Hyogo, Himeji before I came to Hiroshima.   I have been playing soccer since I was in  elementary school, so I like soccer very much. In particular, I love watching soccer game. My favorite soccer team is Juventus , a soccer team in Italy. It is the first team I’ve loved since I started playing soccer. They are very passionate and my heart is often moved when I watch their match. I like to listen to music too. My favorite musician is Porno Graffitti. In particular, Music Hour is my favorite song in their songs. I often listen to it when I want to get excited. I often listen to music of Creepy Nuts these days. I think they represent Japanese hip hop. I will update this blog more and more from now on, it's nice to meet you.
